영어부사의 한국어 번역에 대한 연구

Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to analyze translation patterns of English adverbs when they translate into Korean focusing on speech conversion, deletion, or addition of words or sentences. I examine the Reader's Digest 100 - Reader's Digest 102, original text on the basis of semantic analysis and its English-Korean translations with a direct comparative method depending on translation shifts. The reason why I especially selected 'adverbs' translation patterns' among eight parts of speech is that despite the high frequency of appearance of adverbs in sentences, there has been no study focusing on Korean translation of English adverbs.
This thesis consists of four chapters. The first chapter shows the purpose and the reason why I choose the subject. The second chapter introduces the definitions of Korean adverbs and English adverbs respectively, and kinds of adverbs including specific examples. Also, the descriptions of selected texts and the method of the study is mentioned. The third chapter suggests and analyses the results of the study. Firstly it shows the number of adverbs in English texts and then devide them into eleven kinds of adverbs. In each categorization, all the adverbs are classified in terms of modifier relationship like verb-level modifiers, adjective-level modifiers, noun-level modifiers, phrase-level modifiers etc. The last chapter summarizes the results above and proposes suggestions for a subsequent study.
