중·고등학생의 힘과 운동에 대한 개념 연구
- Alternative Title
- Students' Conception Study about Force and Motion in Korean Middle and High school
- Abstract
- In this study, the Korean middle and high school students' conceptions on force and motion were examined.
Selected group for this study are as follows.
1) each one class of the first and second grade students attending a boys' middle school
2) each one class of the first and second grade students attending a girls' middle school
3) two classes of the third grade students attending a human high school
(One class chooses physics as optional course for the college entrance exam.)
(Other class choose biology as optional course for the college entrance exam.)
FCI(Force Concept Inventory: Hestenes et. al., 1992) was adopted for the instrument to test students' understanding of force and motion concepts.
As the results of this study, the students showed lower understanding in case of no net force than in no force. This means that students can't understand the equilibrium of force.
Especially the impetus concept of motion appeared very widely among the major misconception.
And they were confused action and reaction with equilibrium.
In general, the Korean students showed very low performance in understanding force and motion.
Since the force and motion is basic and important in physics, this low performance should be taken into account seriously in physics education and it is thought that teachers need to develop a new teaching method.
