- Abstract
- The history of Korea's participation in the World Cup Games begins in 1954 when Korea first took part in the 5th World Cup Games in Switzerland. Thereafter, Korea has played total of 14 matches and came up with 4 ties and 10 losses allowing 43 goals in 5 World Cup Games; 13th World Cup Games in Mexico(1986), 14th in Italy(1990), 15th in the US(1994), and 16th in France(1998). Koreans have longed for their 'first' win and their 'first' qualification to the round of 16
Finally, Korea has exceeded its goal being the first asian team to proceed to the round of 4, pulling off 4 wins in the Korea?Japan World Cup in 2002.
