Abstract
'2009 Revision Curriculum', which was announced in 2011, becomes sequentially effective from 2013 starting with Middle School first year students. This curriculum newly presents seven middle areas of 'Character and Expression', which are combined from eleven middle areas now in use. It lets students, who are used in concrete operation, deal with 'Character and Expression' in the context of real life problem solving. Moreover, it combines 'Equation, Inequation, and their Application' into one middle area in order to help the students to notice that mathematics and real life are closely connected.
The main object of '2009 Revision Curriculum' is to enhance students' right personality and attitude. For this, it helps students to understand mathematical concepts, principles, and laws and build up their mathematical thoughts and communication skills so that they can consider various phenomenon and problems in mathematical way and find out the rational and creative solutions of them.
Upon recognition of this objective, I have done a comparative analysis in how the middle school fist year mathematics textbook reflects the standard of achievement and organization, objective of each unit, mathematical process, and creative activities.
I hope this study can grasp each textbook's features so that it will be helpful to choose the textbook in school and useful material for editing textbook. Also, I hope there will be other studies which make up the problems and limitations of this study and focus on other features of curriculum.
