Abstract

In this paper, based on Haruki Murakami's short stories "Ghost of Lexington "," Tony Takitani " and " Barn Burning " as the center, I studied the loneliness. Specifically, I did the loneliness classification and comparative analysis through characters in the novels.First of all, the analysis pivots around loneliness of characters in the three works. Then I compared the loneliness of characters among " Ghost of Lexington , " Tony Takitani " and" Barn Burning ". After comparison, I found that there are two kinds of loneliness.One is caused by the objective influence; the other is caused by subjective reasons. The loneliness caused by objective influence was studied by comparing " Ghost of Lexington " and " Tony Takitani ".Loneliness always brings uneasy, fear and so on. However, loneliness not only brings pain.Sometimes lonely time will be time to learn and to relax. It will bring a variety of benefits.Due to the objective conditions of the loneliness, it can be divided into two types: studious people and not studious people.Due to the subjective reason, loneliness is investigated by comparing the " Ghost of Lexington " and " Barn Burning ".Some people even seek a person lonely time.If you don't feel insecure and fearful and directly accept the loneliness, you can make full use of the lonely time.Maybe you will find your true desire or realize the self value. According to how to accept loneliness, the effects on people are quite different.Therefore, after comparison of three novels, I conclude whether it is caused by objective influence or subjective reasons, people can bear loneliness as long as you have a fullest life.
