A Study of the Choice Attributes Affecting to Medical Tourism in Korea Using Big data

- Abstract
- Medical tourism defines as a travel with aim of improving health. Korean medical tourism which has the highest growth rate and the most number of foreigners for the last few years. This study examined the choice attributes affecting to the medical tourism in Korea, using big data. Data in this study are collected from major portal sites in Korea.
The results are summarized as follow.
In this study, the texts related to national image and medical reliability and medical service were found on the top of the ranking. The greatest influence to the choice has a national image of the country. Texts showed the political, economic, and statistical image of the country. Further, the texts related to geographical location, accommodation, tourist attraction and marketing impact showed low rank.
To be competitive in the healthcare industry, hospitals and agencies that are promoting medical tourism, need to emphasize marketing. It can be suggested that an effective marketing policy will influence future customers choice.
