Abstract
Salmonella infection is a major health problem worldwide. Salmonella pathogens affect various species of domestic animals and classes of human beings. The immunocompromised individuals and the malnourished are especially at risk of Salmonella infection. Also, people traveling to endemic countries. Typhoid together with Paratyphoid will remain the major cause of ailment and decease threat, amongst kids in particular along with adolescence of the Sub-Saharan countries. In Sub-Saharan Africa, Typhoid is connected to unhygienic condition and impure drinking water. Some infected individuals harbour the organism in their gall bladder, biliary tract, liver, spleen, and lymph nodes as well as in the intestines and urinary tract, and become chronic carriers. There is a fast trend of unknown serotype developing in some areas, posing very serious challenges to researchers. The most predominant serotypes are Salmonella Typhimurium, S. Enteritidis. S. Typhimurium ST313 is developing, with great resistance, against regularly used antibiotics posing serious public health risk globally and in Sub-Saharan Africa particularly. Salmonellosis is hazardous to public health and poses a serious socio-economic setback. There is the urgent need for regular disease sensitization, monitoring, microbiological assessment, antimicrobial follow up and very strategy intervention procedure to minimise the burden of the disease Salmonellosis from at risk population
