A Study on the Revitalization of Traditional Market by Analyzing Kids Contents
Abstract
The study began with a regretful thought that the number of local residents in the traditional market, a place of memories and history, is decreasing.
Therefore, I researched how to activate the traditional market to help bring in children and their family customers who will become future loyal customers.
Nine of the traditional markets across the country were selected and the contents of the Kids Contents were analyzed into five elements of Bunt H. Schmidt's experience marketing to derive content that actively reflects three or more elements.
In this study, we looked at the Jagalchi Market, a leading fishing industry.
The mayor of Busan has the theme of "Sea," and suggested three.
There are three types that can be operated using idle space in the Jagalchi market.
The first content is a children's cooking class to improve children's awareness of marine products, and the second is a kids cafe where they can experience marine related business and play. The final content is the Children's Museum, where various art education programs and works of local educational institutions can be displayed.
Three key contents were derived through the above research process, but in the future, studies should be conducted to provide a more detailed design that could generate interest to children at the eye level.
Although a movement to introduce kid marketing in traditional markets has begun, it is now mostly a one-time event linked to market festivals.
Instead of content for children who have followed their parents briefly, it should be kids contents that give priority to their children.
This means that families, including children, should find the contents of kids that can only be experienced by visiting the traditional market.
Finally, creative design thinking is necessary to provide special services with kid content in traditional markets, and if creative kids content is developed actively reflecting local identity, there will be positive expectations to attract young family customers who visit traditional markets for their children as well as for their 50s or older.
