- Abstract
- Due to the characteristics of the domestic aquaculture industry, the use of medicines to minimize the damage has become a prerequisite as mortality damage caused by aquatic life diseases is repeated every year. Recently, there is a concern about the potential risks from the use of medicines in fish farms. In order to solve this problem, drug use management must be carried out from the production stage, but so far, investigations on the use of drugs are insufficient.
This paper aims to grasp the use status of antibiotics and antibacterial substances in Jeju through a survey as basic data for proper use of pharmaceuticals, and discuss the results of residual monitoring using SensiCheck kit and 45 types of Multiple Reaction Monitoring(MRM).
In Jeju flounder farming, Tetracyclines, β-lactam, and Quinolones drugs were all used, and it was confirmed that tetracycline and penicillin water-soluble drugs were mainly used as 80% of the total drug use. Compared to other regions, the amount of antibiotics used was higher, but the detected drugs did not exceed the residual limit. There was no correlation between the survey and the residual monitoring results.
Overall, continuous investigation of drug use and residual monitoring are expected to contribute to reducing the use of drugs by establishing the basis for establishing a use history management system and understanding the actual conditions of treatment and prescription. In addition, by restoring public confidence through safe seafood production, economic effects such as increased consumption of seafood can be expected.
