Research on Public Art Project in Placemaking
Abstract
The main research goal of this article is to propose a public art project for Placemaking, which is the main research goal of this article. Research path of public art in this article is mainly based on the research path of Korean scholar Yang Hangmi. She divides the development of public art into four stages, the art in architecture, the art in public places, the art in urban planning, and the new gener public art. Based on this, combined with the American scholar Cher Krause Knight's key words of public art "physical accessibility" and "emotional or intellectual accessiblity", the four stages defined by Yang Hangmi are divided into two categories, of which " "physical accessibility" includes art in architecture, art in public places, and art in urban planning. "Emotional or intellectual accessiblity" includes new gener of public art, and the artistic values corresponding to these two categories are slightly different, and the "physical accessibility" corresponds to the keywords "worship value and display value", "emotional or intellectual accessiblity" corresponds to the keyword "shared value and educational value". The above contents are combined to form the classification of this article. According to the reclassification of public art in this article, it is clear that public art has begun to develop towards public art projects.
In order to define the public art project, this article starts from the literature, and rectifies the papers on the "public art project" in the past five years. Among them, 16 of the 137 papers are related to this research, but there is no definition of the public art project. By listing these 16 papers, and sorting out the examples cited in these papers and the art genre to which the examples belong, it can be clearly seen that the most common art genre in the "Public Art Project" paper is "Soziale Plastik" , "Land art", "Community art", and "Art festival", and then the four major genres sort out seven first-level constituent elements: art works, public space, public participation, regional culture, social responsibility, Mass media, sustainable development. Continue to subdivide the seven major elements of this article, find and sort out the secondary measurement values in the literature of public art corresponding to each element, and finally form a composition table of the elements of the public art project.
The second part of the theoretical background is to organize the content of Placemaking, and combine it with the element composition table of the previous public art project.
According to the collation of Placemaking's theoretical background, it can be determined that the combination of this theory and public art projects has at least four parts, such interconnected points create possibilities for the combination of public art projects and placemaking.
Placemaking's guideline was proposed by the PPS in 2008. It includes four core attributes: proximity and connection, comfort and image, use and activity, and sociality. According to these four core attributes, the elements of the public art project are combined into one The initial public art project project in Placemaking, the five core elements constituting the project are: artistry, social responsibility, sustainability, sociability, and sociability.
In the empirical analysis, two methods are mainly used, the first is the Delphi method. The test results are: reliability and validity of the five core elements are all available and the most important core elements are sociability, sociability, and artistry. The 18 cores corresponding to the five core elements also have reliability validity. The most important item is, first, barrier-free space. Second, collaboration. Third, traditional art.
The second part of empirical analysis is case analysis. This part is based on the results of the previously arranged schemes. The cases are selected. These cases are cases that have been running in the past five years. The specific operation method is that according to the structure of the paper, 90 cases have been selected for each case Vote for the public art project. It can be seen that each case has matching elements on the core elements in the analysis table. From the results, the core elements in all the case analysis tables have proportions, although not all the subdivided elements have matches. However, the reason why each case is scored differently in the elements under the core elements is that each public art project has different characteristics in the design process.
The conclusion of this article is written according to the theoretical background and empirical analysis results of this article.
First,The concept of the public art project in this article is: lead by professional artists to create, based on urban local culture, and adhere to the social responsibility of art. Attach importance to and utilize the mass media to promote the attention of all sectors of society, and sustainable art practices completed with the masses in an open space, including the entire process from the conception of the artwork, the realization of the artwork, and the redevelopment of the artwork, and try here In the process of building a harmonious relationship between people and art, people and the city.
Second, the scheme of this research is revised and arranged according to the empirical analysis part, and the definitions of the five key attributes are reorganized to form a complete content.
Third, from the Delphi method empirical analysis in Chapter 5, it can be found that "sociability" is the most important element. It is based on the role of participation and mass media.
Fourth, among the examples in Chapter 5, "Fireflies", "Here Lie the Secrets of the Visitors of Green-Wood Cemetery", and "Monument Lab" are examples of using existing historical resources and traditional public art. In today's cities, the utilization of long-standing monuments or unique cultural resources is very important.
