조선시대 봉보부인(奉保夫人)의 신분과 대우에 대한 연구

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the major roles and status of king’s nanny and thereby, review the social aspects and the positional limits during Joseon period. For this purpose, the researcher reviewed preceding studies as well as relevant historic literature: Joseonwangjosillok (The True Record of the Joseon Dynasty), Donguibogam (Principles and Practice of Eastern Medicine), Gyeonggukdaejeon (The Grand Rule of Laws), Takjijeongrye (Financial Budget), etc. As a result of the research, it could be confirmed that king’s nanny had got a treatment as good as the first-class (Jong Ilpum) official. However, compared with the similar class such as king’s or crown prince’s concubine, she was deemed treated differentially, which seems to have been attributable to her lowest social status or ‘Cheonmin’. Through this study, it has been reconfirmed that Joseon society put priority on status than class. Moreover, through this study, not only the fact that king’s power and social status system had been associated with king’s nanny could be confirmed but also the national system of Joseon dynasty could be understood.
