A Study on the Utilization Status of Instant Logistics in China
Abstract
In recent years, China has been making rapid economic development. With the development of technologies such as Internet shopping, O2O, big data, artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, the Chinese logistics industry is also progressing efficiently and effectively. As a result, new changes have also taken place in China's logistics industry. The most representative change is the emergence of the concept of “instant logistics”. A new delivery method that can combine the Internet and logistics to meet consumers' needs faster and faster is in the spotlight of the general public.
Instant logistics is a door to door logistics method that does not go through the process of warehouse or transit during delivery. It is a quick logistics method that can start shipping immediately after receiving orders from consumers and deliver goods within one to two hours. In addition to food delivery, the logistics companies also deliver the supermarket's household goods, medical supplies, fresh food, personal items, documents and even “pao-tui” (agent purchase) services.
Despite these phenomena, there is a great lack of research on instant logistics of China and therefore systematic research in this field is needed. This study analyzed the concept, major types, operation method and utilization status of Chinese instant logistics, while analyzing the characteristics of consumers and the causes of use of instant logistics enterprises.
Furthermore, based on the results of empirical analysis, this study identified the current status and development structure of instant logistics in China, and then identified the causes of use by consumers as well as the priority factors when selecting instant logistics companies. Finally, the prospects and the direction of future development of instant logistics enterprises in China were also presented.
