Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explain ‘Has the demand structure for fisheries products still have its unique characteristics which is separate from common market?’ based on the current situation analysis of the Korean main fisheries products and econometric analysis. According to the analysis result, like the coincidence between reality and estimation result or model-fit, the Inverse demand model is more suitable for explaining the consumption structure of Korean fisheries products. And it shows that the prices of species mainly supplied by imports or aquaculture are more sensitive to changes in consumption than prices of other species like mackerel, hairtail. Namely, It also can be thought that suppliers can affect prices of the species supplied by imports or aquaculture by adjusting supply of them flexibly according to demand.
