Factors Influencing Patient Satisfaction in Emergency Medical Institution Related the Korea Triage and Acuity Scale(KTAS)
Abstract
Purpose
This study was to identify the factors affecting the usage-related satisfaction of use of patients visiting emergency medical institution.

Methods
Data were collected from survey and medical record review from an emergency medical institution located in Busan, Korea, from June to Aug, 2020, and analyzed using SPSS 25.0. The patient's characteristic, satisfaction with the use of emergency medical institutions for 100 patients and the Job satisfaction, self-efficacy and professional capability of 20 nurses were analyzed. The inclusion criteria of participants stipulated as nurse 1) to work at an emergency medical institution visited by a patient, 2) to have used Korean Triage and Acuity Scale for more than 3 months to provide direct care to patients, 3) to complete the consent form for study participation, Nurse managers were excluded. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, partial correlation, multiple regression after demographic factors were performed.

Results
The mean score of usage-related satisfaction was 3.99±.63. The mean waiting time, duration of stay, occupation rate were 14.29±10.97min, 104.96±67.35min, 22.02±7.43%. In the multiple regression analysis, the patient’s waiting time (t=-4.50, p<.001), the nurse’s self-efficacy (t=2.43, p=.017) and professional capability (t=4.64, p<.001) explained 59.1% of the patients' satisfaction with use of emergency medical institution.

Conclusion
Based on the results of present study, the factors affecting the satisfaction of patients use in emergency medical institutions were waiting time, triage nurses self-efficacy and professional capability. Therefore, strategies to increase patients satisfaction considering these factors should be developed.
