조선업과 제조업/건설업의 중대재해 특성 비교 연구
- Alternative Title
- Comparison of the characteristics of fatal accidents between shipbuilding and manufacturing/construction industries
- Abstract
- The production method of the shipbuilding industry changed systematically and complexly according to the growth of the construction scale, and complex production methods and indoor and outdoor workshops were operated. Fatal accidents in the shipbuilding industry feature accident types with varying characteristics, and thus, it is necessary to compare and analyze fatal accidents by their shipbuilding process/work type in order to properly manage them. In addition, The number and diversity of shipbuilding industry safety studies are insufficient compared to the manufacturing/construction industry. Therefore, it is necessary to have a study that compares and analyzes fatal accidents in both the shipbuilding industry and the manufacturing/construction industries and then looks for similarities. And it is necessary to check whether research benchmarking is possible. This study has two purposes. First, characteristics and establish an efficient safety management plan by comparing and analyzing fatal accidents in the shipbuilding industry per their process and workplace type. Second, it is possible to benchmark the studies in the manufacturing/construction industries for the shipbuilding industry by finding similarities between the two control groups after comparing and analyzing fatal accidents in the shipbuilding industry and the manufacturing/construction industries.
The study was conducted largely under two topics. The first topic concerned a characteristics study using comparison and analysis of fatal accidents per shipbuilding process type and workplace type. After quantitatively analyzing 310 fatal accidents in the shipbuilding industry, the difference in ratio between the two groups by process and workplace was tested using the R program. In addition, the characteristics of the detailed process were confirmed through TreeMap analysis. The second topic involved exploring similarities by comparing and analyzing fatal accidents in the shipbuilding industry and the manufacturing/construction industries. After quantitative analysis of fatal accidents in the shipbuilding(310 cases)/manufacturing(563 cases)/construction(1,111 cases) industries, the difference in ratio between the two groups by industry was tested using the R program.
Finally, this is the conclusion of the study. First, management based on classification per workplace type capable of clearly distinguishing falling and jamming/wrapping, which accounts for 58.4% of total accidents in the shipbuilding industry, is more efficient for safety management. Additional management of pre-painting, scaffolding, pre-erection, and follow-up fitting is required in the detailed process. Second, Similar to the manufacturing industry, the highest rate of fatal accidents indoors in the shipbuilding industry was jamming/wrapping, with several accident types being similar. Similar to the construction industry, the highest rate of accidents outdoors was falling accidents, and other accident types were similar as well. Accordingly, it was confirmed that research benchmarking of each other is possible in some fatal accidents.
The scholarly contribution of the present study is in offering a characteristic classification standard for fatal accidents in the shipbuilding industry. The practical contribution was that it offered a direction for fatal accident management in the shipbuilding industry. Subsequently, the study is expected to help safety managers in the shipbuilding industry set up a direction for safety management with regard to fatal accidents.
