Evaluation of Fisheries of Caspian Sea based on Fisheries Governance and Ecosystem-based Bio-resources Management
- Abstract
- The study is to identify upcoming problems, issues and impacts of fisheries of Caspian Sea and immediate actions and recommendations are proposed by fisheries governance (FG) and Ecosystem-based Bio-resources management (EBBM) mainly addressing to the declining fish population, water quality and qualitative water availability of the Caspian Sea. Fisheries governance and EBBM have been made considerable progress in recent years largely as a result of the concerted actions of the social sciences. The study is deliberating on how much fisheries should be managed by the ecosystem-based approach. The substantial task in transition from the current fragmented system of management of bio-resources to FG and EBBM is to identify relevant existing legislation/regulations and institutional frameworks.
The discussion emphasizes how preventive policies and actions (responses) against pollution, social impacts and habitat degradation can be underpinned through the involvement of relevant stakeholders linked to major driving forces and through the use of pertinent indicators at different governance levels.
