마그네슘환원에 의한 금속 바나듐 분말 제조에 대한 연구
- Abstract
- Metallic vanadium powders have been applied as an element component in hydrogen storage materials, in Ti-6Al-4V alloy, and a negative electrode material of nickel hydride battery. Also it has a potential to be used for lower-cost and higher-capacity battery. For such an application, it is important to develop the production technology of metallic pure vanadium powder. In this study, the vanadium powder by magnesium reduction of vanadium oxide was attemped to produce. In first stage, V2O5 powders as initial raw material was reduced by hydrogen gas into V2O3 phase, which was impossible to be further reduced by hydrogen gas. In next stage, V2O3 powder was therefore reduced by magnesium gas at 1073K for 5-48 hours leading to the formation of magnesium oxide (MgO). The MgO component in obtained materials of V-MgO composite powder wase dissolved fully in 10% HCl solution for 5 hours at room temperature by simple stirring method. The oxygen content of produced vanadium powders was 0.84 wt%, and impurities were V16O3 and MgO. The size of produced vanadium powders was about 1㎛, as well as about 60㎚ of their crystal size.
