A Study on the wave Control Characteristics of Horizontal Plate Type Structure
Abstract
In this study, the wave control characteristics of horizontal plate type structure is numerically computed to investigate the effectiveness of horizontal plate type structure. Two-dimensional numerical wave flume based on the VOF method was used. Numerical model was calibrated against the data from hydraulic model experiments.
The main results are summarized as follows:
1) At the location in hc/h = 0.25, the transmission coefficient is the smallest. transmission coefficient tends to be decreased as the relative crest height become decrease.

2) Transmission coefficient tends to be decreased as the relative width become increase. In addition, on more than B/L = 0.25, the transmission coefficient was less than 0.5.

3) Effect of horizontal plate thickness was negligible for transmission coefficient and reflection coefficient.
4) Variation of the transmission coefficient and reflection coefficient tends to be decreased as number of plates of increase. However, when the compared with one horizontal plate, its effect was not significant.
These results emphasize that when the location in hc/h = 0.25 and horizontal plate width is B/L = 0.25, their wave control performance was the most effectiveness.
