초등학생의 자아탄력성, 어머니의 양육태도, 가족건강성이 학교생활적응에 미치는 영향
- Abstract
- So far, the relationship of each variable : mothers' parenting style, family strength, and children's ego-resilience, noted to be related to the children's school adjustment, has partially examined in the previous research. However, few have attempted to address their effect regarding all three variables. Therefore, in this article, by referring to the consideration of previous researches, we will consider their relative effects on children's school adjustment, regarding children's ego-resilience as personal variable, and children's report of parental behavior inventory and family strength as family variable.
Research Question 1. How are three variables of children's ego-resilience, mother's parenting style, and family strength related to the children's school adjustment?
Research Question 2. How are their relative effects on children's school adjustment?
Research Design
Questionnaire survey was conducted of children in 5-6th grade who go to public school in Pusan and their mothers by using school adjustment scale, ego-resilience scale, and mothers' parenting style scale.
The data of this research was analyzed through SPSS 18.0 statistical program.
Result
Research Question 1. Proceeding from examining the correlation between children's ego-resilience, mothers' parenting style, family strength and school adjustment, they are notably related to school adjustment. Children's ego-resilience among three essential variables is the most relative while family strength appears to have rather lower relation to school adjustment and other subordinate factors.
Research Question 2. Proceeding from examining the relative effect of three variables on school adjustment, the results are as follows. When the variables which affect to school adjustment input by stages, in first stage, children's ego-resilience shows 37 percent in influence on school adjustmental variant. In second stage, as a consequence of regressing parenting style to first stage additionally, it appears 9 percent increase, and 46 percent in influence on school adjustment. In third stage, in consequence of regressing family strength to second stage additionally, it displays 2 percent increase, and 48 percent in influence on school adjustment.
Therefore, it can be summarized that ego-resilience is the most effective, mothers' parenting style is the second, and family strength is the least factor on school adjustment.
Conclusion
The research suggests that teachers' intervention in entire family is needed from the period of elementary school to improve family strength as well as intervention in individual to improve ego-resilience in order to increase the children's school adjustment. Given the fact that ego-resilience highly affects on school adjustment, this brings us that internal factor should be intensified more by conducting improvable programs for optimistic view, personal relationship, and confidence for children from the period of elementary school.
