A Study on the Risk Assessment and Safety Management in Healthcare Clinical Product Ultrasound System Manufacturing Area

Abstract


Healthcare clinical product Ultrasound system manufacturing area has various hazards as another manufacturing area. However there was lack of study on risk factors for this area.
Because of these circumstances, it has been difficult to develop proper safety measure in healthcare clinical product ultrasound system manufacturing area.

The purpose of this study is to suggest a proper safety measure for industrial accident prevention in this manufacturing area as well as reducing loss of lives and property. To achieve this purpose, this study carried out risk assessment for the
case study company which manufacture Healthcare clinical product Ultrasound systems by using the risk assessment tool based on 4M-criteria, which stands for Machine, Media, Man and Management.

This study was conducted by following step which is 1) Preparation & classification of work activity, 2) Hazards identification, 3) Risk estimation, 4) Risk evaluation, 5) Risk control action & Implementation.

As a result of this study, the number of cases of risk factors about bodily reaction and exertion(ex. static posture, overexertion, repetitive motion, etc.), don't wear personal protective equipments, un-safety act, improper working method are found to be higher than others.
And the risk factors about incompatible chemicals stored in same area, Missing or absenting of safety procedure(ex. chemical handling, managing of emergency equipments, etc.), Poor guarding for hazardous equipments, Damaged facility, Poor ventilation for soldering area are found to be higher risk grade than others.
Also the results showed relationship between the number of case of risk factors which is related machine and operator's age group and gender group.
Based on result, we suggested various safety measure to improve current circumstances of work site.
We hope that these study may be used to guidance of risk assessment for Healthcare clinical product Ultrasound system manufacturing area, and it is helpful for preventing industrial accidents in this area.
