A Study on the Recycling of Old Quay Wall Structures by Port Redevelopment Project
Abstract
This study was performed to check the technical analysis of quay wall structures and to conduct research about eco-friendly and cost-effective application method demolished by port redevelopment project is underway for the first time in Korea. Also surveyed and collected the article has historical records due to demolition aside from quay wall structures.
The findings of this study can be summarized as follows. First, this study presented the designed section of quay wall structure (block type quay wall and Caisson type quay wall) built in 1940s. Also, it analyzed the status quo of quay wall structures through compressive strength test and Schmidt hammer test. Second, this study analyzed application method about block type quay wall structure to use other harbor structure’s resource without simply waste disposal. As a result, it studied three ways to recycling, retaining wall’s backfill, caisson’s filling material, land scape shore protection. Third, this study investigated and collected old harbor facilities which have potentiality to be historical relics by port redevelopment project. It presented the knowable data for history of Busan port in the future.
Consequentially, this study will be judged by the research of application method on port structures demolished through the nation’s first port redevelopment project in the sense that it provides the foundation material of the harbor redevelopment project planning and design for the future progress.
