지진과 관련된 현상들에 대한 구조지질학적 및 고지진학적 분석 연구
Abstract
Earthquake related surface deformation and phenomena can show a variety of characteristic damage patterns. In this study, I mainly investigated various earthquake-related features based on structural and paleoseismological analyses. Structural investigations have been carried out for two areas, where structural deformations are well exposed along large-scale faults in SE Korea; the Yangsan and the Ilgwang faults. From this study, I improved my understanding on the relationship between structural deformation and earthquake effects. Archaeoseismological investigation has been carried out in Gyeongju and its surrounding area; one of the largest and most well preserved archaeological sites in Korea. This work provided us earthquake-related damage data and I could get some useful information such as relevant timing and inferred size of the historical earthquakes related to the damages of historical heritage sites. In addition, the review of surface rupture properties associated with the 1999 Chi-Chi earthquake has contributed to our understanding of earthquake-related fault evolution, earthquake propagation, and earthquake hazard studies. These studies will enhance our understanding of the structural deformation and phenomena associated with paleo-earthquakes. This will improve our ability to make assessments about future earthquakes and earthquake-related hazards.
