다독 후 독후활동의 필요성과 효과에 대한 사례연구

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the necessity and effectiveness of post-reading activities after extensive reading which turned out to be essential for EFL learners. For the analysis, the study employed four middle school students who had different English reading levels and interests in books. During the study, the participants were asked to write or draw the main idea or story of each book they finished reading. During the data collection procedure, analyses of the books students finished, in-depth interviews, and observations on the students' attitudes were conducted. The results of the study are as follows: 1) Post-reading activities were beneficial for increasing motivation and interest in reading English books. 2) Post-reading activities provided the students with opportunities to think of the theme and the organization of the story and had a positive influence on not only English vocabulary but also English writing.
