abstract
The purpose of this study is to find desirable plans to help Korean learners understand and speak 'ㅂ‘ irregular conjugation and '으’ irregular conjugation in Korean correctly and fluently. To speak Korean naturally, this study considers to combine Focus on Form approach with Focus on FormS approach to improve communication skills.
This study consists of the following chapters;
In the second chapter, first of all, studies on instructions of Korean irregular verbs and adjectives are reviewed. And how to deal with inflection of Korean irregular verbs and adjectives in Korean text books is investigated. In addition, the result with theoretical perspective of Focus on FormS approach and Focus on Form approach is analyzed.
In the third chapter, the grounds why 'ㅂ‘ irregular conjugation and '으’ irregular conjugation in Korean are selected for this study are explained. First, the questions and hypothesis of this study are presented, and informations about the participants of the experiment are supplied. Then, the explicit grammar description by focus on forms approach and the enhancement by focus on form approach are presented with instances. And, the reasons why 'ㅂ‘ irregular conjugation and '으’ irregular conjugation in Korean should be studied are clarified and the pretest, the post test, and the internalization test of the experiment are subsequently explained. The last of this chapter shows the process of experiment.
In the forth chapter, the result of the experiment is analyzed. Based on the result of the experiment, the effectiveness of learning 'ㅂ‘ irregular conjugation and '으’ irregular conjugation in Korean is discussed.
In the fifth chapter, based on the discussion about the result of the experiment, the significance of this study is groped about. Moreover the limits of this study as well as the suggestions for the next study are offered.
Without learning grammar, it is difficult to make communication smoothly because the majority of Korean has irregular verbs and adjectives. For this reason, this study presents gradual instruction of the phonemic conditions on Korean irregular conjugation combined with communication skills.
