A STUDY ON COMPUTER PROGRAM TEACHING METHOD IN MATHEMATICS EDUCATION
Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to study computer programs that are used to improve students' understanding of mathematics education.
In this thesis investigate features, usages and utilizations on LOGO, GrafEq, Excel.
Frist, LOGO can be used easily if we are certain and understand the instructions, and it can be used for the geometry part of second grade of middle school courses for shape resembling.
Second, GrafEq can be used for mathematical funtion in middle school to high school, so it will be recommended for math classes, because students easily understand visual graphs. Furthermore, GrafEq is easier to use than LOGO. It doesn't rely on commands as it uses numerical formulas.
Third, Excel is easily accessible so it shouldn't be as unfamiliar as other programs. It is mainly utilized for probability and statistical problems. And it also makes easy calculation for the mean, variance, standard deviation, and we can use it for equations, inequalities and mathematical functions as well.
Lessons that use computer programs can effectively convey the target learning, improve mathematical thinking skills, and motivate students via visualized lessons. However, they may focus on computer rather than mathematics and therefore, students may find answers without considering the mathematical processes themselves.
Therefore teachers should plan their lessons, and students should attend and be active in class, and then the classes will be effective as well as interesting.
