Design of a Smart Phone Application for Cooperative Learning
Abstract
School education that was fragmentary and memorization-oriented learning has been changing into the one trying to raise various learning experiences and the attitudes that sympathizes and cooperates with the others. The consideration and understanding of the others and cooperating attitude can be raised by interacting with the others through cooperative learning and also the learning effect can be maximized through the cooperation among learners.
Smart phone enables the real-time interaction due to its accessibility, mobility and convenience and can be the suitable medium for raising the effect of cooperative learning. And, if we applies a mobile messenger service to make real-time feedback between the users, more effective cooperative learning can be implemented.
In this paper, we will propose the design of cooperative learning application of Jigsaw Ⅱ model that is applied by mobile messenger service. The simplification of screen, readability, font size and touch interaction were considered in technical respects and many necessary functions for cooperative learning were considered and applied to the design of application. The environment optimized for the cooperative learning can be provided as the interaction and mutual supplements of tutor-learner and learner-learner can be implemented efficiently due to convenience of portability using smart phone by escaping the limited internet access environment and going beyond the restriction of time and space.
