Abstract
The revised social studies curriculum of 2007 emphasizes history education in particular. Thus the contents of the history section previously scattered through 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades are now integrated into the first and second semesters of the 5th grade in elementary social studies.
Therefore, this research intend to gain insights that could be used as a reference when making next social textbooks by analyzing social textbooks of the 7th and the 2007 revised curriculum.
The conclusions of the study are as follows:
Firstly, the textbook units according to the 2007 revision curriculum were a reorganization of the contents from the 7th 6th grade 1st semester contents per unit in a chronological flow. Meanwhile, the topic was introduced to supplement historic contents afresh.
Secondly, the 7th curriculum focused on the political history, the 2007 revised curriculum focused on the life history, cultural history, person history.
Thirdly, when comparing quantity of each area, most of the contest was concentrated on political history area and compared to the 7th curriculum, life history, cultural history, and person history were added. In particular, North Korea's politics, economy, society-related information can be interpreted to mean a part of the narrative.
Fourthly, in the learning data analysis, the pictures of the 2007 revised curriculum appear as real photos. The students who studies the revised textbooks can understand historic matters easily because the historic map contains the name of places.
Fifthly, in terms of historical terms, a lot of modern times were increased. the 2007 revised curriculum contain explanations of words.
sixthly, the 2007 revised curriculum focused on the person history and woman's history person.
Finally, most of the history described in the history textbook involving other countries is about Japan and China. in the description details regarding China and Japan the relative invasion and war is mostly described.
In 2007, the revised social and education history had changed many areas. These changes came in time to reflect the social and textbooks and training of teachers, so the book learning activities, foods, and more attention should be required and important.
