A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF MIDDLE SCHOOL MATHEMATICS 1 TEXTBOOKS BASED ON THE 2009 REVISED CURRICULUM
Abstract
The 21 century requires the creative talents of people in a rapidly changing knowledge-based society. In order to foster the creative talents of the students, the Ministry of Education (formerly, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology) announced 'Strategies for Advancement of Mathematics Education' in accordance with the 2009 revised curriculum in 2012.
This thesis is intended to provide an implication for mahtematics education in development and implementation of mathematics curriculum by performing the analysis on the STEAM factors and learning materials for storytelling in middle school mathematics 1 textbooks in accordance with the 2009 curriculum. First of all, we analyzed how much middle school mathematics 1 textbooks include STEAM factors on each textbooks and each unit. Secondly we analyzed what middle school mathematics 1 textbooks include as learning materials for storytelling.
We suggest finally that in the future a lot of researches for the STEAM education and storytelling teaching must be done.
