영어 그림책을 활용한 조기영어교육방법 연구
- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to investigate effective teaching methodology of English picture book in early childhood English education. This study suggests the use of picture books in teaching English to build children's reading ability and it encourages children's interest in reading English with no pressure but with pleasure.
Picture books provide children with the linguistic and cultural benefits, the ability to make critical and mature judgements, a developed feeling and understanding for the foreign language. so, children can have the amazing potential to move the reader.
For carrying out this study, First, I reviewed some theories of learning languages using picture books. Second, I suggested selection standard of effective picture books based on several scholar's opinions and also the effect of reading picture books. Taking the students' level into account, I selected a picture book which is appropriate for 5 or 8 year-old children.
In conclusion, the many different kinds of English picture books provide children with good opportunities of acquiring higher level of English based on an abundance of vocabularies and a variety of situations. The teaching methodology through picture book enhances children's interest and motivation to study English as a Foreign Language.
