요약

본고는 한·중의 대표적인 여류시인인 이매창과 유여시의 시가에 드러난 봉건적 사회에 대응하는 여류의 시대의식을 비교분석 했다. 이매창과 유여시 공히 한 시대를 풍미했던 여류로써 개인의 감정과 시대적 사상을 투영하는 온도 차이를 집중적으로 비교하였으며, 이에 대한 각기 다른 사회를 향한 외침을 연구했다. 이매창은 유교적인 사회상에 순응하는 온건적 여성상의 중심인 반면, 유여시는 사회를 향한 비판을 거침없이 할 수 있는 개혁적 여성의식을 보여주고 있다. 자신에게 주어진 신분에 대한 한탄으로 시작된 두 여류시인의 공통점은, 당시대를 살아가고자 하는 의지와 사회를 바라보는 시각 등에서 각기 다른 방향으로 형성되어가는 부분을 이들이 쓴 시가를 통하여 연구했다. 더불어 이들이 생존했던 사회상은 유교적인 사상이 중심이었다는 점과, 임진왜란이라는 전란과 명·청이라는 국가존립의 교체시기라는 공통적으로 어지러운 시기라는 점 등이 맞물려진다. 여류라는 신분으로 이러한 신분의 구속과 시대의 난국 속에서 이들이 바라 본 사랑, 사람, 사회을 향하여 작성했던 시가들을 분석하면서, 각기 다른 국가와 시대에서 이들의 세상과 소통하는 법을 정확히 짚어 내고자 하였다. 이 연구의 주체인 이매창은 애환적, 보수적 정서를 가진 여류라면, 유여시는 비교적 낙관적, 진취적인 정서의 주인공이다. 이러한 같으면서도 다른 두 여류의 산물인 시가를 분석하면서 이들이 바라보는 세상과 그 세상과 소통하는 법을 발견 할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 한국과 중국의 여류문학의 비교작업의 일환으로 이매창과 유여시를 연구하였다. 앞으로도 이러한 기초위에서 한국과 중국의 여류문학, 나아가서는 여성문학의 전반적인 비교가 심도있게 이루어져 한·중 문학사에 더욱 의미있는 연구가 되길 바란다.

Abstract

This study compared and analyzed the gisaeng's consciousness of the times that coped with to feudal society - shown in Lee, Mae-chang and Yoo, Yeo-si's poems who were the representative Korean and Chinese gisaeng poets. As gisaengs (both Lee, Mae-chang and Yoo, Yeo-si) who were the most popular in their generations, the difference in their attitudes in which they projected their personal emotions and thoughts on the times they lived were compared; their voices towards each different society - resulted from these differences - were examined. While Lee, Mae-chang showed a moderate woman's image that conformed to the Confucian society, Yoo, Yeo-si showed the consciousness of a reformist woman who could make outspoken criticisms towards society. Through their poems, I have studied how the two gisaeng poets' common points - which began with lamenting their given social status - had been formed in different directions - such as in their willingness to live in those times and their perspectives on society. Furthermore, the social situations of the times they lived coincided in that the Confucian ideology was the center of their times and it was a turbulent period - i.e. Japanese Invasion of Korea in Korea and the transition period of two countries (between the Ming and Ching Dynasty) in China. By analyzing their poems written towards the love, people and society they looked at under the restraint from their social status - as gisaengs - and difficult times of their eras, I intend to point out exactly how they communicated with the world, each living in the different country and era. While Lee, Mae-chang, the subject of this study, was a gisaeng with melancholy and conservative sentiment, Yoo, Yeo-si was a character who had relatively optimistic and progressive sentiment. By analyzing the poems which were the pieces of work by the two gisaengs - who seemed similar but different at the same time, it could be found how they looked at and communicated with the world. This study examined Lee, Mae-chang and Yoo, Yeo-si as a part of comparison work for gisaeng literature of Korea and China. On the basis of this study, I hope that comparison work between the Korean and Chinese gisaeng literature - further overall comparison of female literature in both countries - will be conducted in depth in the future so that they will be more meaningful studies in the Korean and Chinese literature history.
