THE ANALYSIS OF ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT ON GEOMETRY USING EXPERIENCE LEARNING : Focused on a solid figure in first grade of middle school
Abstract
Abstract

In 2007 Revised Curriculum, level-based class is recommended to improve mathematical ability and consider educational content appropriateness. However, general education based on theoretical lessons fails to improve mathematical disposition and attitude of students who are not doing well in mathematics among the first year of middle school students.

Accordingly, the purpose of this research is how experience learning can affect low-achieving students’ logical reasoning ability and geometrical intuitive power. To achieve this goal, the solid figure learning worksheet was developed to analyze the effect of experience learning on students’ academic achievement and mathematical disposition and attitude.

The results of this study are as follows : First, the experimental group became more interested in geometrical learning than the control group through the solid figure learning based on effective activities. Second, the experimental group’s academic performance was significantly improved with students’ active participation and high interest level in geometrical learning.
