- Korean distribution businesses have grown into modern enterprises with the continued remarkable development during the past years. However, with the diversified consumers desires and the shortening life cycle of goods amid the economic development, the rapid analysis of information has become a strategic point in the marketing management to meet these requirements.
Accordingly, this study is intended to analyze how the POS(Point Of Sale) system is operated in Korean distribution firms, what are the problems, and how to utilize the information of this system efficiently with the analysis of the usage status.
This paper analyzes the operation and information utilization by distribution business through the questionnaire, and presents the efficient utilization of the POS system information as follows based on the materials study and the questionnaire:
The efficient utilization methods include the amendment of the operating system, enhanced recognition by the chief executive officers, the POS system training and training the professionals as the inner roles of businesses, and enhanced source-marking, the standardization of operation, the amendment of price tags, the systematic operation of goods code, and the development of home-made machinery as the outer roles of businesses.
Finally, the constriction of distribution VAN(Value Added Network) system, automatic contract system, and distribution information system, and EDI(Electronic Data Interchange) development, rapid file service, and the promoted sales data service as the roles of systematic distribution information are hereby presented.
Therefore, when the presented methods in this study are in full operation, the POS system can bring a renovation in the management of distribution firms, and it can be utilized efficiently as the strategic business system. And the desirable next study may include the study on the construction of the strategic business system which can be used in the business management utilizing the information related with various information system in addition to the promoted use of POS system information in order to develop the distribution industry in the information society.
