Abstract
This study aims to reveal the influence-buying relationship between safety leadership, safety rule compliance, safety education, organizational trust, and Safety consciousness for those who work for OO aviation manufacturing company and to suggest academic and practical implications based on the results.
To achieve the purpose of this study, a convenient sampling method was conducted by surveying employees working in OO aviation manufacturers, and the survey period was conducted from February 3 to February 14, 2020. A total of 270 copies were distributed, and 231 copies were used for analysis, excluding non-reported and insincere responses. SPSS 21.0 program was used for reliability and validity analysis for empirical analysis of the collected data, and AMOS 21.0 was used for path analysis for hypothesis testing.
Presenting the research results, first, it was confirmed that safety leadership had a positive and significant effect on safety rule compliance and safety education. Second, it was confirmed that safety rule compliance and safety education had a direct, positive effect on the organization's trust, but had not on safety consciousness. In other words, it was identified that safety rule compliance and safety education, which are elements of safety awareness of organizational members, are the main factors to improve the organization’s trust. Third, an analysis of differences between groups in safety leadership, safety rule compliance, safety education, and organizational trust, and safety consciousness, according to demographic characteristics was conducted. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that there was a difference in organizational trust and safety consciousness variables according to gender, a difference in organizational trust according to sevice working years, and a difference in safety rule compliance according to edcuational background characteristics.
Due to the nature of the aviation manufacturing industry, females are considered to have higher Safety consciousness and organizational trust than males because they work in a safer environment due to their job characteristics.
Further, as a practical implication, the organizational manager sets an example for the members of the organization by demonstrating safety leadership, and through safety rule compliance and safety education, organizational trust is improved and the organization's Safety consciousness is established. Consequently, safety leadership prevents safety accidents, creates organizational performance, and enhances sustainable management.
