여성결혼이민자의 문화적응과정에 대한 현상학적 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 여성결혼이민자들을 대상으로 문화적응과정을 이해하는데 목적을 두었다. 특히, 이들의 문화적응과정에서의 경험이 한국사회에서의 삶을 살아가는데 어떠한 의미가 있는지에 대한 알아보는 데 목적을 두었다. 연구문제는 첫째, 여성결혼이민자들의 한국생활 중 문화적응경험은 어떠한가? 둘째, 여성결혼이민자들은 어떻게 조화롭게 살아가는가?로 설정하였다. 본 연구를 위해 한국 사회에서 8년 이상 거주하며 연구주제에 맞게 문화적응 과정에서의 경험을 풍부하게 표현할 수 있는 6명의 연구참여자들을 대상으로 심층 면담으로 질적 연구를 실시하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 연구참여자들은 입국 초기에는 문화적 충돌을 경험하여 혼돈의 시기인 것으로 나타났다. 이 시기에는 주로 ‘일방적인 한국 문화 받아들이기’의 동화 유형 형태로 나타났다. 둘째, 초기 적응이 끝나고 부터는 가족들과 함께 미래에 대한 불안과 기대를 공존하며 자격증 취득, 자녀에게 모국어 가르치기 등 다양한 노력을 지속적으로 하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 장기 거주화로 들어선 이들은 개인적인 차원의 친구, 지역주민, 학부모, 지역사회기관 등 사회적 관계망을 활용하여 적극적으로 상호작용하며 그들의 정체성과 한국문화를 유지하는 통합 유형의 형태가 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 통해 여성결혼이민자들을 위한 정착 단계별 맞춤형 서비스 지원과 더불어 취업 지원 및 네트워크 활성화시키는 방안에 대한 시사점을 제공하였다.

The purpose of this study was to understand the cultural adaptation process for female marriage immigrants. In particular, the purpose was to find out what their experiences in the cultural adaptation process meant in living life in Korean society. First of all, what is the cultural adaptation experience of female marriage immigrants in Korean life? Second, how do female marriage immigrants live in harmony? For this study, a qualitative study was conducted through in-depth interviews with 6 research participants who have lived in Korean society for more than 8 years and can express their experiences in the acculturation process richly according to the research topic. As a result of the study, first, it was found that the study participants experienced cultural conflict in the early stages of entry and were in a period of confusion. During this period, it appeared mainly in the form of a fairy tale type of 'one-sided acceptance of Korean culture'. Second, after the initial adaptation, it was found that various efforts such as obtaining a certificate and teaching a native language to children, coexisting anxiety and expectations for the future with family members. Third, those who entered the long-term residence showed an integrated form of maintaining their identity and Korean culture by actively interacting with social networks such as friends, local residents, parents, and community institutions at the individual level. Through these research results, it provided implications for ways to support employment support and activate networks along with customized service support for female marriage immigrants by settlement stage.
