A Study on the Visual Analysis and Optimization of the Collective Housing Complex Using Isovist Theory
Abstract
The standardized layout of collective housing complexes that emerged in the process of urbanization after the 1970s was a process to solve the problem of housing shortage in the period when the quantitative supply of residential space was absolute, and was the result. However, with the passing of the times, citizens' lives became more affluent in the affluent economy, and only then the problems of the standardized housing complexes that had entered the process of urbanization began to be revealed. And today's apartment complex residents are demanding a better view within a high-rise and high-density complex. In order to have a better view, you need to be able to judge whether the view is good or bad. The criterion will be the most objective quantitative value, and a number of previous studies dealing with quantitative analysis have been conducted.
The purpose of this study is to propose a view analysis and view optimization model for each unit of apartment complex using Rhino Grasshopper, an architectural parametric design tool, by referring to previous studies. In addition, by using this, we will analyze the actual layout plan of collective housing and derive a layout plan optimized for the view.
The order in this study is largely composed of four parts. First, the operational definition of the view and the standards for the view space in the apartment complex were prepared through consideration of previous research literature, and the observation point setting rules for the view analysis were established accordingly. Second, a prospective analysis methodology was established for quantitative prospective analysis. To this end, the visible domain theory, which is a representative spatial visual perception analysis theory, was applied. Third, a view optimization model was established. For optimization, ‘NSGA-Ⅱ’ theory, a kind of genetic algorithm, was applied. In the optimization model, the legal regulation of inter-moving distance and separation distance was used as an optimization variable along with perspective analysis so that more practical perspective optimization could be achieved. Fourth, the validity of the outlook optimization model was reviewed. For this purpose, the target collective housing complex was selected, and perspective analysis and outlook optimization were performed for the collective housing complex. Then, the suitability of the layout plan was reviewed through qualitative evaluation on the layout plan generated as a result of the view optimization model.
The significance of this study is to present an objective landscape optimization model based on quantitatively calculated landscape analysis data along with visual understanding of landscape through the visual program Rhino Grasshopper.
