Abstract
Multi-stroke radial piston motor is a motor in which the number of reciprocating movements of the piston is increased by at least two times while the output shaft rotates once. Since the piston rotates along the cam ring profile, the design of the cam profile has a great influence on the torque characteristics.
In this paper, the theoretical torque characteristics of a multi-stroke radial piston motor according to the profile of the cam ring were studied. The cam ring profile was designed using the epitrochoid curve and the sinusoidal curve. Subsequently, in order to reduce ripple, a flat angle was given to the sinusoidal cam profile to study torque characteristics according to the angle. It is assumed that a constant pressure and flow rate are applied to analyze the theoretical torque characteristics, and the fluid effect is ignored.
This paper consists of five chapters, and the summary of each chapter is as follows.
Chapter 2 describes the structure and operating principles of the multi-stroke radial piston motor.
Chapter 3 describes the equations of the epitrochoid curve and the sinusoidal curve for the cam ring profile design. Using the equation, we design the cam ring profile of the sine curve and the cam ring profile of the epitrochoid curve, and design the tuned epitrochoid cam ring profile by compensating for the shortcomings.
Chapter 4 shows the theoretical torque of the epitrochoid cam profile and the sinusoidal cam profile, and analyzes the torque ripple and efficiency. we also compare the torque characteristics of the tuned epitrochoid cam profile, we consider the best method for designing the cam profile. Subsequently, a flat angle is allocated as a method for reducing torque ripple of a multi-stroke radial piston motor, and torque characteristics according to the flat angle are analyzed.
