메소겐 배향 조절 기반 자극-감응성 액정 엘라스토머의 개발과 응용

Abstract
Production and manufacturing industries, which are the basis of competitiveness among countries, need to present a new industrial paradigm with the advent of the fourth industrial era. Recently, next-generation research on previously commercialized concepts such as 3D, 4D printing, soft robots, and drug delivery systems is under way, and attention is focused on the high value-added industry. Among them, liquid crystal elastomers are attracting attention as new smart materials. A liquid crystal elastomer exhibits a nematic-isotropic phase transition in response to various stimuli, and changes in the oriented microstructure are disordered by various stimuli and macroscopic morphological deformation is derived. Further, the elastomer has a physical characteristic capable of reversible deformation in a relatively large range due to the characteristics of the elastomer. However, it is difficult to express complex and multidimensional shape deformation, and commercialization is difficult due to the remarkably low mechanical properties. in this study, a film with curvature was produced by introducing a density gradient system for multidimensional shape conversion. the film is inverted in curvature in response to thermal stimulation and applied as a heat sensitive smart valve.
Furthermore, the light crystal structure on the cholesteric phase can be embodied. Such a photonic crystal structure can reflect light of a specific wavelength by forming a photonic band gap, which is introduced as a new concept of deformation sensor application. If existing deformation sensors were able to collect information in a one-dimensional and simple way, the film sensors on cholesteric phase are multi-dimensional and have the advantage of immediately distinguishing the magnitude and type of force through color with the naked eye.
