Abstract

Mongolia is a resource-rich country with a large land area and abundant underground resources with excellent profitability. In addition, as an inland country connecting Eurasia, which is emerging in the international logistics market, it is adjacent to China and Russia, which are large markets, so the location conditions are good. In particular, the mining industry is receiving a lot of attention from overseas investors as a support for Mongolia's economic growth. Nevertheless, as an economic growth engine, it has not led to continuous economic growth through the development of its own mining industry and the development of related industries. Mongolia faces growth limitations because it has not been able to solve various problems along with its chronic political instability. In particular, as the mining industry, which is the main industry, is not linked to the logistics industry, economic development is delayed and resource export opportunities are being cut off. In addition, the lack of infrastructure and the decline in the competitiveness of the logistics industry are adversely affecting Mongolia's domestic consumer price index in terms of macroeconomics, and it is looking for ways to reduce transportation and logistics service costs, which account for the majority of import prices. Therefore, this study established the opinions of a group of experts on coal exports in Mongolia and suggested ways to revitalize Mongolian coal exports that can be linked to economic growth using abundant underground resources and geographical advantages by securing international logistics competitiveness through improved logistics infrastructure and logistics services. To this end, the current status of Mongolia's economy, trade, and major industries, as well as the current status and policies of the logistics industry, are analyzed through expert the interview.
