- Abstract
- The converter is a facility that removes impurities from charters made in a furnace and refines them with clean molten steel, and this study deals with the cause of damage to the converter rotation axis and how to take measures to prevent further cracks already generated.
The goal of the study is to prove the correlation between the occurrence of cracks caused by the melt from the structural point of view of the converter rotation axis and to establish an effective method to prevent further cracks generated by reducing the maintenance cost of the converter.
This research conducted a thermal analysis to determine the cause of cracks in the trunnion shaft, which is a rotating shaft of a converter, and diagnosed the safety rate for each case to reduce stress so that cracks do not progress any more. Since numerical stress analysis alone is often insufficient, an experiment was conducted through a strain gauge to quantitatively grasp the effect on mechanical properties under actual conditions. ANOVA was performed to quantitatively identify the effect of trunnion shaft fillet strength on the correlation between each process variable, and the stress level before and after the stress reduction device was compared by substituting the molten steel load value of 345 tons through regression analysis.
It is judged that the element technologies calculated in this study can be used as useful data not only in converters but also in the design of various types of tilting furnaces.
