Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to identify attitudes toward death, positive psychological capital, and professional quality of life(ProQOL) for oncology nurses, and to identify the influencing factors to provide high-quality care to patients diagnosed with cancer.

Method
This study used a descriptive survey research study design. The subjects of this study are 150 nurses who understand the purpose of the study and voluntarily agreed to the study among nurses working in the cancer ward of a university hospital located in B Metropolitan City. The data were collected from November 1, 2022 to November 14, 2022. For the analysis of this data, descriptive statistics, independent t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and two multiple regression and one simple regression were conducted applying a SPSS/WIN 27.0 version program.

Result
There was a statistically significant difference in ProQOL, compassion satisfaction according to total career (r=0.20, p=.013) oncology career (r=.017, p=.034), working position (t=-9.61, p<.001) among the general characteristics of the subjects. There was a statistically significant difference in burnout according to religion (t=-3.01, p=.003) and education related to cancer patients (t=-1.98, p=.049). Compassion satisfaction in ProQOL showed a statistically significant positive correlation with positive psychological capital (r=.61, p<.001). Burn out in ProQOL had a positive correlation with attitude toward death (r=.29, p<.001) and a negative correlation with positive psychological capital (r=-.41, p<.001), and secondary traumatic stress in ProQOL was positively correlated with attitude toward death (r=.43, p<.001). In a multiple regression, positive psychological capital (β=.60, p<.001) was found to have a significant association with the compassion satisfaction, and this variable is explained 39.8% (F=.60, p<.001). Factors influencing burnout were religion (β=.18, p=.011), attitude toward death (β=.26, p<.001), positive psychological capital (β=-.37, p<.001). This explained 26.1% (F=14.14 p<.001). Secondary traumatic stress was identified as attitude toward death (β=.43, p<.001) which explained 18.5% (F=32.66, p<.001).

Conclusion
The results of this study showed that attitude toward death and positive psychological capital were significant factors affecting the ProQOL in oncology nurses. Based on the results of this study, in order to improve the ProQOL of oncology nurses, it is expected to develop strategies to positively change their attitude toward death and increase positive psychological capital.
