- Abstract
- This study proposes an authenticity analysis framework based on the summary of symbols and identities, conflict and compartmentalization, social facts, social systems, and intersubjectivity perspectives. It applies literature analysis, field survey, and participant observation methods to analyze the laws, policies, development plans, coal industry history and folk beliefs, mining taboos, working conditions, miners' lives, rights movements, and hedonistic culture that underlie the transformation of Korean coal resource cities. The analysis of the life history of coal mining communities reveals the basis for the objective, constructive, and material authenticity that are necessary for the success of Korean coal museums. This paper suggests additional reasons for the success of Korean coal museums from four aspects: ontology, community, society, and economy.
The laws and policies of the Korean coal industry and the transformation and development plan of coal resource regions protect the authenticity of the working and living space of the coal industry. The history of the Korean coal industry actively grounds the exhibits in historical fact, forming the basis for objective authenticity and ensuring a solid foundation for the success of Korean coal museums. The life history within coal mining communities in the specific area where a Korean coal museum is located provides a particularly crucial foundation for the museum's success. This history provides a deep and meaningful connection to the local community, contributing to the museum's relevance and impact. On the one hand, this foundation of authenticity is provided by providing visitors with a vivid experience of an important part of regional history. These elements enable stakeholders to realize the unification of economic, social and political interests in the coal museum. On the other hand, the history of Korean coal mining community life promotes the success of Korean coal museums by leveraging the "stage"-like characteristics of physical space and the "symbolic" characteristics of virtual space. The emphasis on historical authenticity enables individuals to unite community symbols, personal identity, and heritage space in coal museums. Rooted in authenticity, Korean coal museums have five key implications for constructing coal museums in Shanxi Province, China: heritage utilization, product development, cultural excavation, tourism experience, and cooperative sharing.|본 연구는 상징과 정체성, 갈등과 구획, 사회적 사실, 사회시스템과 상호주관성의 관점을 바탕으로 진실성 분석의 틀을 제시하였다.
