Evaluation of Human Recognition according of Multiplex Cinema Evacuation Guidance Videos through Eye-Tracking
Abstract
In this study, a status survey and perception questionnaire were conducted according to the visual elements of commercial evacuation guidance videos. In addition, eye-tracking equipment was used to analyze the fixation time for each visual element, and a questionnaire was created to evaluate Recognition of evacuation information. Through this, improvement plans and directions for legal standards and guidelines for evacuation guidance video were presented. First, by analyzing previous studies on the visual elements of evacuation guidance maps and motion graphics, the visual elements (Video Composition, Plan, Word, Symbols, and Image) of evacuation guidance videos were derived. In addition, we asked people to watch evacuation guidance videos from three companies with a high market share among domestic multiplex theaters (Company C, Company M, and Company L) and then conducted a perception questionnaire to determine the factors that hinder the delivery of evacuation information in evacuation guidance videos (insertion of advertising characters, video clips. evacuation information exposure time) was derived. A miniature movie theater was manufactured and installed in a semi-anechoic room where external noise was easily blocked. A total of 90 people were recruited from each of the three experimental groups, with 30 men and women in equal proportions, and eye-tracking data for each visual component was obtained when watching evacuation guidance videos. After watching, a questionnaire was also administered to analyze recognition of evacuation information. The results compared Fixation Time [㎳], [%] and the average of recognition through statistical analysis methods such as Paired sample t-test, One-way Anova, and Welch, and The causal relationship between Fixation Time [㎳], [%], and recognitionwas analyzed through Simple Linear Regression Analysis. As a result of comparing the average Fixation Time [㎳] for each visual element, the Plan area was measured to be the longest, and in the experimental group where advertising elements were inserted, the Fixation Time [㎳] was longer in the advertising Character area than in the Word area. The results were statistically significant (P<0.05). As a result of comparing the evacuation information Fixation Time [㎳], [%] and recognition for each experimental group, it was statistically significant that the video of company L without advertising Characters was the highest (P<0.05). This can be judged to prevent advertising Characters from fully recognizing evacuation information. Lastly, as a result of analyzing the causal relationship between evacuation information Fixation Time [㎳], [%] and recognition, the sign of the non-standardized coefficient B was positive (+), so that as Fixation Time [㎳], [%] increases, recognition increases. was found to increase. As a result of the status survey, there were many videos that did not comply with legal standards, so there is a need to strengthen the provisions. In addition, deleting advertising Characters when producing evacuation guidance videos is expected to increase the efficiency of evacuation information delivery. The Fixation Time [㎳] of the evacuation information area presented through a simple regression equation is set to be 44544.5 ㎳ or more, and the total video length is suggests making it longer than 3 minutes and 21 seconds. This is the minimum standard proposed based on the trend line of this study, and cannot be generalized to be applicable to all evacuation guidance videos. Therefore, this study identified problems with commercial evacuation guidance videos and factors that hinder the delivery of evacuation information, and provided basic data for standardizing the visual design of evacuation guidance videos. In addition, quantitative and scientific results were derived using eye tracking equipment and statistical analysis methods, and it is judged to be of great significance in suggesting improvement plans and directions for production standards and guidelines by focusing on analyzing factors that hinder the delivery of evacuation information.
