멕시코 여성운동의 변화

Abstract

멕시코의 여성운동은 긴 역사를 가지고 있다. 지속적인 노력으로 인해 정치적으로는 여성 대표성이 증가함에도 불구하고 사회문화적 문제는 여전히 산재하고 있다. 이러한 문제는 멕시코 여성이 가지는 특징과 관련된다. 멕시코 여성운동은 멕시코 여성의 특성인 가톨릭 문화 종속과 여성 위계화의 영향을 받으며 발전해왔다. 그 과정에서 과거에는 전통적 매체를 통해 일부 계층을 대상으로 하는 계몽이 목적이었으나 최근에는 소셜 미디어 같은 온라인 플랫폼을 통해 다양한 사람들에게 정보를 전달하고 여러 조직의 연대를 목적으로 한다. 2016년 이후 폭발적인 해시태그 운동들을 통해 네트워크화된 전략이 국제 연대를 형성했고, 멕시코에서도 내에서도 소셜 네트워크 플랫폼을 활용하여 여성들이 성적 폭력 등을 언급하고 공유하며 초위계적 연대를 이루었다. 이를 통해 멕시코 여성운동은 정동 소외자들 간의 감정적 응집과 실제 세계에서의 직접 행동의 동원을 성취했다. 온라인 플랫폼을 활용하는 네트워크화된 운동 전략은 신속한 정보의 전달성과 초지역, 초시간성을 가지고 여성 논의에 있어 새로운 정치적 공간을 제공한다. 그러나 네트워크화된 운동 방식은 목표 설정이 어려워 충돌과 감정의 폭발을 야기할 수 있으며, 잘못된 정보와 반발 의견의 확산이 발생할 수 있다는 한계가 있다. 다른 운동에서도 지적되는 문제점에도 불구하고 새로운 운동 전략과 그 성취로 인해 멕시코는 낙태 비범죄화와 여성혐오 폭력에 대한 법률적 개선으로 다가가고 있다. 본 논문은 멕시코 여성운동의 역사와 멕시코 여성의 처지를 톺아보고 이를 통해 사회운동의 전략 변화가 사회에 실질적으로 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보았다. 멕시코 여성운동이 전략의 변화로 얻어낸 성과에도 불구하고 여전히 사회적 인식의 개선, 법률적 재정비 등 지속적인 노력이 필요한 개선 과정이 남아있다. 그러나 사회적 소통 매체의 변화에 따른 사회운동 전략의 변화가 사회 변화에 효과적인 영향을 미칠 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다.|The women's movement in Mexico has a long history. Despite increased political representation through sustained efforts, socio-cultural issues persist. These challenges are closely tied to the distinctive characteristics of Mexican women. The movement has evolved under the influence of Mexico's Catholic cultural dependence and the hierarchical structure of women. Initially, enlightenment targeted certain social strata through traditional media, but in recent times, it aims to disseminate information to a broader audience and foster solidarity among various organizations through online platforms such as social media. Since 2016, explosive hashtag movements have formed a networked strategy, fostering international solidarity and, domestically, enabling women to share experiences of sexual violence and establish subversive solidarity using social networking platforms. Through this, the women's movement in Mexico has achieved emotional cohesion among marginalized groups and mobilized direct action in the real world. Networked movement strategies utilizing online platforms provide a new political space in women's discourse with the rapid dissemination of information and offering a hyperlocal, hypertemporal dimension. However, despite the achievements of this new strategy, it poses challenges such as difficulty in goal setting, potential conflicts, emotional outbursts, and the spread of misinformation and dissenting opinions. Despite the acknowledged issues common to such movements, Mexico is progressing towards decriminalizing abortion and legal improvements addressing violence against women due to the success of new movement strategies. This thesis examines the history of the women's movement in Mexico, scrutinizes the status of Mexican women, and explores how changes in social movement strategies have tangible impacts on society. While acknowledging the achievements brought about by the evolution in strategies, the paper emphasizes the ongoing need for societal awareness improvement and continuous efforts such as legal reevaluation. Nonetheless, the confirmation of the potential effectiveness of social movement strategy changes due to shifts in communication media offers hope for societal change.
