Design and Construction of Spatial Information Sharing Platform for Mega City
Abstract
In the 21st century, the world is experiencing rapid urbanization and metropolitan areas are becoming increasingly important. A Mega City is a large city with a population of more than 10 million people, an economic, social, and cultural center that drives global competitiveness as a core city, and a large economic area with functional connections in various fields. The concept of Mega City is differentiated from the concept of metropolitan areas in the industrialization era by the concentration and linkage of cities to strengthen their innovation capabilities. Mega cities are characterized by their role in integrating a huge amount of people and markets into the global economy, and some Mega cities spread their influence around the world at a level that is more than the size of a single country. In terms of industrial activity, Mega cities are also emerging as key centers of innovation and global competition as their industrial structure is reorganized around knowledge service industries. They are attracting attention as a forward base for various global companies through the formation of large-scale consumer markets and the presence of numerous infrastructures such as advanced human capital and IT. In this paper proposes the design and construction of spatial information sharing platform for mega cities. To this end, it analyzes the regional characteristics of mega cities, analyzes the changes in the sectoral conditions of mega cities, and designs the direction of building a mega city spatial information sharing platform in a super-regional area. In particular, it aims to develop a spatial information sharing platform that can efficiently share and collaborate on various data within mega cities to enhance the sustainable development and global competitiveness of mega cities. In addition, a new paradigm for securing national and regional competitiveness, the mega city spatial information sharing platform, is designed to establish a shared data hub. The developed platform provides a collaborative community function for collaborative work with scalability and ease of maintenance of future systems. It supports the decision-making process by providing an environment for free exchange of opinions and spatial information sharing, and suggests a spatial information-based cooperation strategy for the future development of mega cities. This study analyzes the changes in the conditions related to mega cities, draws implications, and presents guidelines and prototypes for building a mega city spatial information sharing platform based on them. In addition, this paper proposes a WebGIS-based platform for a spatial information module-based cooperation system, which consists of three parts: data management, WebGIS system processing, and user management. First, to realize an integrated module environment, the basic spatial information used by users is investigated and managed as a master map, and spatial information is updated periodically using Open API. Second, it has a function to convert addresses or place names into coordinates and a function to display spatial information in a quick time, and third, it supports the collection, refinement, and processing of data conveniently in addition to the use of GIS SW by uploading data from researchers. Through this, this study will contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of domestic mega cities and laying the foundation for communication and cooperation among local governments in the mega-region. Furthermore, the establishment of a mega cities spatial information sharing is expected to provide best practices for cooperation among megacities not only in Korea but also globally.|In the 21st century, the world is experiencing rapid urbanization and metropolitan areas are becoming increasingly important.
