어머니의 양육 스트레스와 유아 자기조절력의 관계에서 어머니 정서표현성의 병렬이중매개효과
- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to examine the double parallel mediating effects of mothers' positive emotional expressiveness and negative emotional expressiveness in the relationship between mothers' parenting stress and young children’s self-regulation. To achieve this, a survey was conducted with mothers of children aged 3 to 5 years attending kindergartens and daycare centers in Busan Metropolitan City and Gyeonggi Province, and the 257 collected questionnaires were used for analysis. The data were statistically analyzed using IBM SPSS (ver. 24) and the PROCESS Macro (ver. 4.2) by Hayes (2013).
The results of this study are as follows. First, significant correlations were found among mothers' parenting stress, mothers' emotional expressiveness, and young children’s self-regulation. Second, in the effect of mothers' parenting stress on young children’s self-regulation, positive emotional expressiveness by mothers played a partial mediating role, while negative emotional expressiveness did not serve as a mediator.
These findings reveal that the mediating effect of mothers’ positive emotional expressiveness in the relationship between mothers' parenting stress and young children’s self-regulation and reaffirm the relationship between mothers' parenting stress and young children’s self-regulation. This suggests the need to provide various support policies that can reduce mothers' parenting stress and enhance positive emotional expressiveness to improve young children’s self-regulation. Therefore, this study can serve as a foundation for proposing directions in parent education and strategies to enhance young children’s self-regulation, based on an understanding of how mothers' parenting stress affects young children’s self-regulation through positive emotional expressiveness.
