고등학생의 감각추구성향이 도박문제에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구는 고등학생의 감각추구성향이 도박문제에 미치는 영향을 분석하고, 이 관계에서 자기통제력의 매개효과를 검증하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 전 국 17개 시·도 일반계 고등학생 1,090명을 대상으로 온라인 설문을 실시하였으며, 이 중 도박 경험이 없다고 응답한 533명과 불성실 응답 57명을 제외한 최종 500 명의 자료를 분석에 활용하였다. 설문에는 감각추구성향 척도, 자기통제력 척도, 도박문제 척도를 사용하였고, 수집된 자료는 SPSS 25.0을 활용하여 분석하였다. 각 변인 간의 상관관계를 살펴보기 위해 Pearson 상관분석을 실시한 후 Baron 과 Kenny의 다중회귀분석을 실시하고, 부트스트래핑을 통해 매개효과의 통계적 유의성을 검증하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 고등학생의 감각추구성향은 도박문제에 유의미한 정적 영향 을 미쳤다. 둘째, 고등학생의 감각추구성향은 자기통제력에 유의미한 부적 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 고등학생의 자기통제력은 감각추구성향과 도박문제 간의 관계를 부 분 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 이 연구의 결과로, 고등학생의 감각추구성향이 도박문제에 영향을 미치고, 감각추구성향과 도박문제의 관계에서 자기통제력의 중요성에 대해서 알 수 있었다. 이는 감각추구성향이 높은 고등학생들은 자기통제력이 낮고, 도박문제를 보일 가 능성이 높음을 의미한다. 따라서 본 연구는 감각추구성향이 높은 고등학생의 도박문제에 대한 개입 시, 자기통제력 수준을 향상시키기 위한 상담적 개입 방안이 함께 모색되어야 함을 확인하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 결과의 제한점과 후속연구에 대한 제언을 논의하였다. 주요어: 고등학생, 감각추구성향, 자기통제력, 도박문제|The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of sensation seeking on problem gambling among high school students and to investigate the mediating role of self-control in this relationship. An online survey was conducted with 1,090 general high school students across 17 regions in South Korea. After excluding 533 students who reported no gambling experience and 57 who provided insincere responses, data from 500 students were used for analysis. The survey included the Sensation Seeking Scale, the Self-Control Scale, and the Problem Gambling Scale. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0. Pearson correlation analysis was conducted to examine the relationships among the variables, followed by multiple regression analysis based on Baron and Kenny’s method. The significance of the mediation effect was tested using bootstrapping. The results were as follows. First, sensation seeking had a significant positive effect on problem gambling. Second, sensation seeking had a significant negative effect on self-control. Third, self-control partially mediated the relationship between sensation seeking and problem gambling. These findings indicate that high school students with higher sensation-seeking tendencies are more likely to experience problem gambling, and this relationship is influenced by their level of self-control. This study highlights the importance of addressing self-control in interventions aimed at preventing problem gambling among sensation-seeking adolescents. It suggests the need for counseling strategies that enhance self-regulatory capacities in high school students with high sensation-seeking traits. Limitations of the study and recommendations for future research are also discussed.
