Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of the Hazard Prevention Plan in the the Korean construction industry and explores how site supervisors qualifications and overseas experience influence their perceptions. Using a literature review and survey method, data were collected from 247 site supervisors across major Korean construction companies and subcontractors. The survey covered general characteristics, percrptions of the HPP, inspection practices, and system improvement needs. Data were anzlyzed using SPSS 29, including reliability analysis, frequency analysis, cross tabulation, and Pearsonis chi square test. The results showed siginficant differences in awareness of HPP content, record keeping, system distinctiveness, client verification, and safety responsibility, depending on supervisors qualifications and experience demonstrated higher awareness and a more critical stance on the HPP system, while views on shortening inspection cycles showed no meaningful difference across groups. The study underscores the importance of enhancing supervisors legal awareness, providing targeted education, clarifying safety roles, ad reducing redundant documentation.
