블록체인 기업의 매출 성과와 해외 진출에 영향을 미치는 요인

Abstract

블록체인 기술은 다양한 산업에 적용되며 디지털 전환 시대의 핵심 인프 라로 자리 잡아가고 있지만, 실제로 기술을 개발하고 상용화하고 있는 기 업들이 어떤 요인을 통해 성과를 달성하는지에 대한 실증 연구는 아직 부족하다. 본 연구는 블록체인 기술 기반 기업을 대상으로, 기업의 성과에 영향을 미치는 조건들을 탐색하고 유형별 조건 조합을 분석하기 위해 퍼지 집합 질적 비교분석(fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis, fsQCA) 방법을 활용하였다. 성과 변수로는 매출, 해외 진출 여부, 해외 매출 여부를 설정하였으며, 기업 규모, 연구개발(R&D) 투자금액, 특허 보유 여부, 정부 지원 필요성 등 총 7개의 조건 변수를 중심으로 분석을 수행하였다. 분석 결과, 성과 유형별로 상이한 조건 조합이 도출되었으며, 매출 성과에서는 기업규모와 정부지원 수요 인식과 같은 사업화 역량 요인이 공통적으로 반복 등장하며 핵심적인 역할을 수행하는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 해외 진출 및 해외 매출 성과에서는 기술 역량 요인이 상대적으로 더 중요하게 작용하였다. 이러한 결과는 단일 요인이 아닌 복합적 조건의 조합이 기업 성과에 영향을 미친다는 점을 시사하며, 블록체인 기업의 성장 전략 및 정책 설계에 있어 성과 목표에 따른 맞춤형 지원이 필요함을 보여준다. 핵심어: 블록체인 기업, 기업성과, fsQCA, 기술 역량, 사업화 역량|Blockchain technology has emerged as a core infrastructure in the digital transformation era, with applications spanning finance, logistics, public services, and beyond. However, empirical research remains limited on what factors drive performance among blockchain-based technology firms that are actively developing and commercializing this technology. This study investigates the conditions that influence business performance in blockchain firms and explores the combinations of these conditions using fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA). The outcome variables include overall sales, international market entry, and overseas sales. Seven causal conditions were examined, including firm size, R&D investment, patent ownership, and perceived demand for government support. The results reveal that different combinations of conditions lead to different types of performance outcomes. Notably, commercialization capabilities —such as firm size and perceived government support needs—consistently emerged as core conditions in most configurations related to sales performance. In contrast, technological capabilities—such as patents and R&D investment— played a central role in driving international expansion and overseas revenue. These findings highlight the importance of understanding business performance not through single factors, but as the result of complex combinations of organizational and environmental conditions. The study provides practical insights for policymakers and managers in designing support strategies tailored to the performance goals of blockchain technology firms.
