- Abstract
- A wireless sensor network is a network consisting of spatially distributed autonomous devices using sensors to monitor physical or environmental conditions at different locations. Each sensor node in the sensor network is typically equipped with a radio transceiver, a microcontroller, and battery. There are various rolls and the quality of produced steel depended on status of rolls. Therefore, checking the status of roll is very important. However, it is too difficult to wiring the sensors because there is great number of rolls and they exposed to high temperature in the still mill. Therefore, we implement the roll monitoring system that using wireless sensor network. In this system, a small number of APs (access point) are interconnected through the Ethernet. Each access point is serving a number of sensor nodes. To connect AP and sensor nodes, we propose and implement MAC protocols that applied preamble-sampling technique. APs connect to server computer via TCP socket and transmit data to monitoring server program. Each sensor node periodically sends each roll's status data (e.g., temperature, number of rotation, and vibration data) to monitoring program on the server computer via AP.
