중등학생의 토요휴업일 활용 실태 및 인식 조사

Abstract

중·고등학교 주5일 수업제의 운영과 토요 휴업일 활동에 관한 학생의 인식을 알아보기 위하여 다음과 같은 연구 문제를 설정하였다. 가. 토요 휴업일에 대한 중등학생의 활용 실태는 어떠한가? 나. 토요 휴업일에 대한 중등학생의 인식은 어떠한가? 다. 토요 휴업일의 개선 발전방향은 무엇인가? 이상의 연구문제가 연구대상의 학생의 학교 급별, 부모의 토요휴업일 재택 상황별, 성별에 따라 어떠한 차이점이 있는가를 밝히고자 하였다. 본 연구는 주5일 수업제의 확대 시행에 따른 중등학생의 토요휴업일 활」의 활성화 방안을 모색하기 위해 설문조사연구를 하였다. 토요휴업일 활동의 실태, 토요휴업일 활동에 대한 인식, 토요휴업일 활동의 개선 발전방향에 대한 학생의 성별, 학교 급별, 학부모 재택상황별 특성에 따라 빈도의 백분율을 산출하고 집단 간 응답분포의 차를 검증하기 위해 χ² 검증을 실시하였다. 본 연구에서 나타난 사실에 비추어 볼 때 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 토요 휴업일 활동의 활성화를 위해서는 국가적으로 방과 후 활동을 토요 휴업일에 배정하거나 학교 간 교류를 위한 지원이 강화되고 있으나 자신의 학교와 타 학교와의 프로그램 및 시설에 대한 공유 정도가 아직은 상당히 미약하다. 주5일 수업제의 실시는 필연적으로 학생 개인의 소요 경비가 증가할 수 밖에 없다. 이는 학부모의 경제적 부담이 늘어나는 것인 바, 원활한 운영을 위해 국가적 차원에서의 재정적·행정적 지원에 대한 대책 수립이 시급하다. 아울러 지역 사회와 유관 기관의 인적·물적 협조가 절대적으로 필요하다. 둘째, 「주5일 수업제」로 인해 가정의 교육력이 강화되었는데도 불구하고, 맞벌이 부부가 많고 아직 주 5일 근무제가 정착되지 못함에 따라 학생 생활 지도에 많은 어려움이 있었다. 실제로 주5일 근무제를 채택하고 있는 사업장은 30%가 되지 못하며 사회적 여건도 준비가 덜 되었다. 이에 주 5일 근무제의 조속한 정착이 요구된다. 넷째, 수업 시수의 감축 없이 운영될 경우 평일 수업의 증가로 인해 학습 부담이 증가하고 더욱이 고등학생의 경우 순수한 체험활동과 학부모의 교육열 사이에서 학교 운영상 어려움이 예상된다. 따라서 전면적인 「주5일 수업제」실시를 위해 관련 법규를 개정하여 교육과정과 수업일수 및 최소 수업 시수의 조정 등이 이루어져야 한다. 다만, 이미 「주5일 수업제」가 실시되는 다른 나라의 경우 주 6일 학습량을 유지하려 한다는 것을 감안하여 국가 경쟁력의 차원에서 수업 시수의 감축에 따른 학력 저하 우려에 대한 면밀한 검토도 필요하다. 다섯째, 토요 휴업일의 활동을 통해 학생들은 가족과 더불어 활동함으로써 가족 간의 유대감이 함양되었고, 올바른 인격 형성과 공동체 의식이 향상되고 있었다. 더욱이 학부모들은 변화하는 사회 분위기를 수용하여 자녀에 대한 교육관이 바람직하게 변화하는 계기가 될 수 있었고 활동을 통해 원만한 교우 관계를 형성하게 되어 바람직한 인성 함양 에 도움이 된다고 하였으며 「주5일 수업제」의 전면적 실시를 원하고 있다

1. Objective and Subject The purpose of this study was to research the recognition of teenagers in middle and high schools about the management of the 5-day school system and their leisure activities on off-class Saturday. The following are the concrete subjects. First, how do middle and high school students spend their time on the off-class Saturday? Second, how do middle and high school students perceive the off-class Saturday? Third, what is the improvement plan for the 5-day school system? 2. Study Method and Content The research aimed to examine the survey for seeking the activating plan about students' activities on off-class Saturday. The data was collected from a total of 476 middle and high school students in Busan; 298 of which were boys and 178 girls. They were selected by the convenience sampling method. For the analysis of the data, frequency analysis and χ² verification were used. 3. Conclusion The conclusions of this study are as follows: First, in order to activate students' activities on off-class Saturday, the government should support in national assignment for after-school activity on off-class Saturday. In addition, a sharing system with other neighbor schools about facilities and various programs still need improvement. it was a natural result that students spent more pocket money for their activities. It means their parents' economical burden increased. Therefore, the support of human and material resources is absolutely needed from the local community and government administrative branches in a national dimension. Second, there were some difficulties in guiding students of dual-income families who had to work on Saturday. In fact, a five-day work week system in work places is adopted in only 30 percent of all the work places, so social condition is not ready yet. Accordingly, the swift settlement of a five-day work week system in work places will be needed. Third, if a five-day school system is entirely operated without reduction of time allotment of class, students' learning burden during five week days will be increased. Moreover, there will be some conflicts between parents enthusiasm and the management of experience learning lessons in high schools. To implement an overall five-day work week system, minimum time allotment of class should be assigned. In the dimension of nation competitive power, however, we should minutely consider the decline in the scholastic ability of the students by means of the minimal time allotment of class. it was found students who participated in the activities with their families on off-class Saturday had strong bonds with their families. Community spirit and personality development elevated. Furthermore, parents who accepted social atmosphere had positive effects on educational view and rearing-child attitude. They thought their children got along with their friends through the activities on off-class Saturday, so they want to implement a 5-day school system completely.
